Myotherapy at Healing Massage & Spa

Advanced manual therapy for musculoskeletal pain, dysfunction, and performance.

Myotherapy is a specialised form of physical therapy focused on the assessment, treatment, and management of musculoskeletal conditions. It combines clinical reasoning, manual techniques, and corrective exercise to treat both acute and chronic issues affecting muscles, joints, fascia, and the nervous system.

At Healing Massage & Spa , our myotherapists offer personalised, evidence-based care aimed at resolving the root causes of pain, restoring function, and supporting long-term recovery.

What to Expect in a Myotherapy Session

Each session begins with a detailed assessment, which may include:

  • Postural and movement analysis

  • Orthopaedic and neurological testing

  • Joint palpation and soft tissue evaluation

We recommend bringing any relevant imaging or medical reports to help inform your treatment plan.

Techniques Used in Myotherapy

Our practitioners are trained in a wide range of hands-on techniques, including:

Soft Tissue Therapy
Deep tissue massage, muscle stripping, and myofascial release techniques to reduce tension, increase circulation, and restore mobility.

Trigger Point Therapy
Targeted pressure applied to muscle knots (trigger points) to relieve referred pain and muscle restriction.

Joint Mobilisation
Gentle, controlled movement of spinal and limb joints to improve range of motion and joint health.

Cupping Therapy
Uses suction to lift and release connective tissue, improve fluid exchange, and break down adhesions. Temporary marks may appear but are painless and fade within days.

Dry Needling
Involves inserting fine needles into muscle trigger points to reduce tension, restore neuromuscular function, and relieve pain. While the technique is similar to acupuncture, it is based entirely on Western anatomical principles.

Corrective Exercise
Individualised rehabilitation plans to improve posture, restore function, and reduce the risk of reinjury. These programs are assessed and modified as you progress.

Taping
Both rigid and kinesiology taping may be used to support injured areas, reduce strain, and enhance muscle activation.
